Specifications Porsche 968: The Porsche 968 is basically the successor of the Porsche 944. It has a low nose and wide wheel arches that help highlight the beautiful lines of this classic shape so that the Porsche Guards Red is a real head turner. It also has a classic GT front engine, the rear wheel layout with the added advantage of a rear transaxle provides an almost perfect weight distribution.

Instead of hidden lights from 944, 968 has a visible pop up light, similar to the Porsche 928. This brings the look of the car parallel to the new Porsche 997-911. This change also has practical advantages: the headlights can be washed along with the rest of the car rather than having to pop them to wash.
As for the interior, it remains the same as that produced in 944, maintaining the famous "oval dash". The designers use the same strong ingredients that have given all Porsche owners years of trouble.
The exterior has several differences: the door mirror has been simplified with the effect of a tear drop and the wheel has a 5 spoke Cup design alloy. The rear bumper is more integrated and with an integral back light cluster, making it almost indistinguishable from bodywork. All changes to this bodywork make 968 very similar to 928, and add machine inheritance, some people call it "daughter 928".
The engine is the first version used on the 944 S2: this is a 4 cylinder, 3 liter, 16 valve unit. And they added VarioCam for optimal power throughout the speed range. It has 240 HP at 6200 rpm and 305 Nm of torque at 4100 rpm, which is provided by an enhanced combustion chamber and inlet manifold design. At the time of production, it was an extraordinary engine, having the highest displacement per cylinder of each car engine and also the highest output torque of every 3 liter engine that was not flown. What is clear, the results of Porsche's investment in this engine paid off.
The rear mounted gearbox is a 6-speed manual or 4-speed tiptronic. This is the first time it was installed on a production car. The chassis has an almost perfect weight distribution and very rigid characteristics.
Usually, most cars start to fail when they have to take a break and the reason is that it doesn't matter how fast the car is in a straight line if you can't take a turn at the right safe speed. But Porsche brakes have always made the envy of most sports car manufacturers. You will see little or no or no fatigue that can be seen even under the hard use of the Porsche 968. ABS adds security to the braking system that is already very good. In addition, what makes the brakes very effective is that the wheels themselves are designed to prevent the tires from escaping from the edge in the event of a sudden pressure loss.
